About the port of Da Nang
Da Nang is the main container port of central Vietnam. Its Tien Sa terminal on the Son Tra peninsula serves the central provinces and the East–West Economic Corridor towards Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
Services are mostly intra-Asia and feeder links, with long-haul cargo relayed through hubs such as Singapore, Hong Kong or Busan, or trucked to Cai Mep or Hai Phong for direct services. A new deep-water port at Lien Chieu is being developed to expand capacity.
Da Nang is a multipurpose port handling a mix of containers, general and project cargo and bulk commodities. Container services are typically regional or feeder connections rather than direct long-haul calls.

Customs and documentation tips
- Export and import declarations in Vietnam are lodged electronically via the VNACCS/VCIS system; prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, contract and bill of lading.
- Check whether goods require specialised inspection, licences or quarantine before arrival or loading, as this affects clearance time at the port.
- If you claim preferential tariffs, prepare the certificate or self-certification of origin under the relevant FTA (e.g. ATIGA, RCEP, CPTPP, EVFTA).
- Confirm free time for containers at the terminal and depot to avoid demurrage and detention charges.
- Declare the verified gross mass (VGM) of each export container before the carrier’s cut-off.
